A coming of age poem penning a new found strength in the pursuit of self love and happiness.

I am not the girl you used to know.
The girl who wore her heart on her sleeve
like vulnerability was going out of fashion.
Or the girl who fell so in love with you
that loving herself was yet to cross her mind.
A quiet confidence was easily infiltrated
by the deafening ignorance of others,
and the so called voice of reason
that sent reason into disarray.
I am not the girl you used to know,
I am the woman who stands before you.
Heart intact, her own saviour,
learning to let go to hold on
to herself.
